16. Six months later.
‘Hi, Mikelito,’ I said.
‘Look who’s calling,’ Mikel said obviously happy.
‘Well, thought that I am sick of your e-mails already,’ I laughed. ‘So I decided to call you better…’
‘Admit that you missed me,’ he laughed.
‘I missed you,’ I said calmly.
‘I almost believed that,’ Mikel said.
‘Why you still don’t take me serious?’ I asked.
‘And why you still think I am doing all girls around me?’ Mikel asked.
‘Mikel, I don’t mean it so rude,’ I tried to defend myself, but he was right, I thought he is still a real Casanova.
‘Well, the main idea is the same, don’t say it’s not,’ Mikel said.
‘I am sorry, Mikel, but when we met…’ I was saying, but Mikel interrupted me.
‘It was a long time ago,’ he said.
‘Indeed…’
‘I have changed,’ Mikel said.
‘Why are you saying it to me?’ I asked.
‘I don’t want you to think badly of me,’ Mikel explained.
‘Mikel, I am not a child anymore, I can make my own opinion,’ I said.
‘And nothing can change it?’ he asked.
‘Sure it can be changed. Otherwise I would still be a child,’ I laughed.
‘But when we met…’ Mikel said and I knew he teased me.
‘Alright, fine. I admit you are right, a lot of time passed,’ I said.
‘Don’t you want to ask me about Ony?’ Mikel asked after few seconds.
‘About Ony? Why?’ I asked.
‘Don’t you love him anymore?’ Mikel asked.
‘Well, I do like him, just… a lot of time passed by… and we didn’t talk,’ I said.
‘Aha, I see. Looks like he didn’t change his mind and still dreams about you,’ Mikel said.
‘Are you sure?’ I asked.
‘No, I am not, because I can’t ask him straight. He would then think I am jealous,’ Mikel laughed. From his laugh I understood that he wasn’t and it trembled my heart a bit.
‘I understand…’ I said. ‘I think I missed Ony a lot,’ I then said and thought is it really so true. ‘Yes, I missed him,’ I then said more to myself than to Mikel.
‘Amazing,’ Mikel said, but his voice changed a bit. ‘But are you sure he is the right man for you?’
‘Well, I guess it’s time to say goodbye,’ I then said as I didn’t want to keep talking about Ony and my feelings. I suddenly felt lost.
‘Yes, yes bye,’ Mikel said also a bit lost.
Some moments passed after the conversation and I was still looking at the phone. I realized I don’t want Mikel to think I am a child anymore, I wanted him to see I am a young woman who needs to be loved… But then I remembered all what Mikel said and how he said it all.
‘He’d never like a girl like me,’ I said to myself and shook my head. ‘What silly thoughts in my head… Mikel’s just a friend,’ I said but doubted in my words.
