Sergo walked after Mikel to the kitchen, there stood a table with much bread and all kind of things you could put on the bread.
‘Is there always so a wide choice?’ she asked surprised.
‘Yes, so we can stay longer at the table, and talk more and become even more friends with each other,’ Javi said.
‘Ok,’ Sergo replied and stood against the wall.
‘You can sit down,’ Ony said and shoved a chair a bit to behind, so that Sergo could take place. The boys also sat down and Mikel cut the breads with a dangerous looking bread knife. Sergo smiled, she was hungry and smeared butter on the bread. When Ony started eating also, after he putted a lot of jam on his bread, she started eating also. Mikel looked weird at her.
‘You can put something on it,’ he said.
‘Oh, but I like it like this,’ Sergo grinned.
‘Ok than,’ and Mikel also started eating from his bread with much cheese on it.
‘Do you wanna drink something? Tea, milk, juice?’ Javi asked.
‘Tea, with milk and sugar please,’ Sergo answered.
‘Is that Swedish or something?’ Basty asked.
‘No, English. Where are the cups? Than I pour, anyone else who wants tea?’ Mikel nodded and Basty who started at his bread also wanted. Sergo putted the water boiler on.
‘Hey, this works the same as in Sweden,’ she smiled. She putted sugar in the cups and in hers also milk.
‘That becomes milk with tea, not tea with milk,’ Mikel judged.
‘Fifty-Fifty,’ Sergo explained and poured. The boys took their cups, Sergo took her own cup and walked back to her place.
‘Well, at least you’re not lazy,’ Ony smiled.
‘Oh, I can be lazy, but at the moment I’m just hyperactive!’ Sergo smiled.
‘Carlos will come soon,’ Ony said, he looked at her hands which were trembling while she held her cup.
‘I know, and I can’t wait. When I signed it’s real, before it’s fake. And when my mom signed, well I hope she does,’
‘You aren’t her ‘fake’’ Mikel smiled.
‘I know, but now there is a chance this won’t go through,’
‘If it’s right my mom will get the copy now,’ Sergo said. ‘It would arrive today.’
Suddenly Carlos stood in the kitchen.
‘Ah, still eating? Than we wait for a while.’
Sergo who almost had jumped up when Carlos arrived sat down again disappointed. Fast she ate her plate empty, and waited inpatient till the boys also finished. According to her, they ate too much and too slow, every second looked like a century to her. She wanted the contract now! When also Ony finished – did he always ate so slow? – they made coffee for Carlos and went to the living room. Carlos handed Sergo the contract and sat down on one of the luxurious chairs. Sergo sat down at the couch. Mikel stood behind her so that he could read with her. Ony sat on the chair in opposite of her. Javi and Basty both sat down also at the couch.
‘Your mother now has a copy, if she agrees she gets the original one also, so she can sign,’ Carlos said. ‘Maybe you can call before you sign.’
Sergo nodded and opened the stencil – what was more than one page – It was polite in a black file. Sergo took it careful out, the boys and Carlos smiled because she was so careful. The first pages were financial stuff, things what the record company would pay and what not and so on. She would get a budget for things she needed. And travel and hotel costs would be paid by the record company. But renting the apartment was for her own costs, just like the lessons Spanish she would get for her ‘work’ She read the page a bit and went to the next page: General Conditions
1. The artist must respect this conditions of the contract, if not, there comes firing or a fine.
2. The artist must look like the record company wants it. And it is not allowed to make a big chance to her appearance herself.
3. The artist has to, if she’s female, use a oral contraceptive pill these costs will be paid by the record company.
‘Eh, sir?’ she asked with frowned eyebrows.
‘Yes?’ Carlos replied.
‘Here stands, well, it says I have to use the pill.’
‘That’s right,’ Carlos said.
‘Why?’ Mikel asked with a grin. ‘Do you seriously think she will do wrong things with groupies?’
‘Groupies I don’t have,’ Sergo reacted.
‘Oh, you will get them,’ Carlos said. ‘But prevent a unwished pregnancy is not the only thing why, it also helps against heavy monthly periods, including the other things which has to do with that.’
The boys started looking green.
‘But I don’t have that,’ Sergo said. She blushed. Why she had to discuss this with a man?
‘We prefer the certain to the uncertain,’ Carlos said.
‘Eh, yes, let’s go to point 4,’ Mikel leaned somewhat more forward so that his head was next to Sergo’s, who was reading the next sentence.
No intimacies (or relationships) with other group members, she read. Mikel turned his head and looked at her, she looked back and together they burst out laughing. Mikel fell over the seat of the couch, what made Sergo laugh even more. She hided her face in her hands. Ony looked at them.
‘What’s wrong with you?’ he asked. Hiccupping Mikel said the sentence and Ony smiled.
‘Ok, next,’ Mikel said when they finished laughing. He walked around the couch and sat down between Sergo and Basty.
‘If there stands something like that again,’ he declared, and they continued reading…
