La Carrera De La Vida - Part 12 "The End"

So Im doing it again. I guess Im crazy. Well, all I can say is that I hope you will like this story and that you will enjoy it.

Natalia was carefully pushing the pedal up and down and in the meantime she was watching what is going on behind her. She saw lights far behind her. Now she had to go only over the bridge and she wins the race. Again. In whole Los Angeles wasn’t better street racer than her. She went over the bridge and a straight street was ahead of her. At the end of it she saw flag. This flag meant victory. She got outta the car and wanted to celebrate her victory with her friends. But as she was getting outta the car, everyone was silent. Soon the sound of sirens got to their ears.
“Run!” someone shouted.
Natalia got back to the car and drove on the street. She needed to make it to the main street. Just few meters were between her and the main street when about 50 police cars appeared around her. She was trapped.
“Natalia Ramirez. Get outta the car! Slowly!” one police officer told her through microphone.
She had no other choice then surrender. Trying to escape from here would a suicide. She slowly opened the door and when she was out, like 10 officers pushed her to the ground, gave her handcuffs and took her to the police station.
They brought her to a dark interview room and left her alone. After couple of hours of waiting Natalia, didn’t know what to think of it. She has been to a police station many times and everytime the officers put her right behind bars. But not this time. It took few more hours than someone came.
“Agent White?” Natalia was surprised to see him.
He was after her since the first time she drove and he caught her.
“Natalia. It’s so good to see you. It’s been a long time.”
Since their last meeting it was 4 months. These 4 months Natalia tried to avoid any trouble.
“So, what is it gonna be? Am I gonna spend some time in jail in San Francisco or what?”
“No, I have something worse for you.”
“Can’t wait to hear it.” Natalia said ironically.
“You are going to collaborate with me.” agent said proudly.
“No way.”
“Oh yes.”
“Nope.”
“Well, if you don’t want to collaborate, then I have to send you to the Chinese prison. Is it what you want? Wanna wake up in dirt, eat almost no food, live in poor conditions and be tortured?”
“No.” Nat said silently.
“See?”
There was unpleasant silence for few minutes. All kinds of thoughts were running through Natalia’s head
“What’s the deal?” she finally asked.
“We need you to spy on someone. His name is Gabrielle Alvarez and he uses illegal street car races for distributing drugs into the streets of Madrid.”
“Wait. Madrid?” Natalia almost shouted.
“Well, I’m not worried about you since your Spanish is perfect.”
“So, what do I have to do?”
“You are woman. What do you think?”

Natalia stepped outta the plane on Madrid’s airport. The weather was warm and it was sunny day. Natalia got through all controls and went to pick up her luggage and car. She was now on her own. From States she rented an appartment in the centre of Madrid. The racing in Spain was quite similar to the racing in LA. Natalia needed few days to get used to her new life. She went to the centre of Madrid and bought many usefull things.
The night of her 1st Spanish race has come. Natalia registered into the race and got number 12. Each race was for 3 cars so Natalia was in the 4th round. The feel of the crowed here was just amazing. The guys here were also pretty good, but not as good as few guys back in LA. The 3rd round was finished and it was her turn now. She drove to the starting grid and was waiting for a starting signal. She was impatiently pushing the pedal up and down. It seemed like eternity. Then the race began. Her heart was beating as crazy. In only few seconds she was ahead of all of them. The track was quite easy. 200 metres straight, then turn left, again straight street, at the end turn right, go over the bridge, turn two times left, then right and here goes the end. Natalia finished first. But these races weren’t about money. They were about prestige and at the same time it was the preparation for THE race.
“That was pretty impressive for a girl.” a man’s voice said behind her.
“Do I know you?” Natalia asked suspiciously.
“Diego Talavera my name is.” he introduced himself.
“Nice to meet you Diego.” Natalia answered smiling.
“May I ask you for a drink?” he asked her.
“You don’t know me.”
“You won. That’s all I need to know.”
“My name is Natalia.”
“Nice to meet you Natalia. Shall we go?”
They went to the bar. To Natalia’s surprise they were selling just non-alcoholic drinks.
“Are you kidding me? No alcohol at all?”
“Yep. We are racers, not drunks.”
They were talking about all possible things, mostly about racing and so, when everyone shuted up. A shining car was arriving. You could feel the cold in the air. It had to be someone feared.
“Who is it?” Natalia asked quietly.
“Gabrielle Alvarez.”
“Who?”
“He’s the king of the streets of Madrid. You don’t wanna mess up with him.”
“Aha.”
“Being one of his friends mean being in trouble. Especially if you hurt his younger brother. He overprotects him.”
“His brother?”
“Yeah. His name is Javier, but if you call him like that you are practically dead. It’s safer to call him just Javi. He is spoiled, you know? He gets everything he wants. Even the girls. His brother would do anything to make him happy at least for a while.”
“You doesn’t seem to like him.”
“Let’s just say I made huge mistake and I can’t take it back.”
“Will you tell me?”
“Maybe one day.”
“Do you have friends?”
“Nope. Everyone who used to be my friend is either dead or in Alvarez’s services.”
Natalia saw Diego’s eyes turning red. She’d swear she saw tears in them. She hugged him. Sometimes life is weird, but she had to do something and it would be better if Diego didn’t know about it. At least for now.

Geez! This is going to be very intersting.... I want next part more than ever!

Natalia was awaken by her ringing cell phone. She didn’t want to answer it, but it kept ringing.
“Yes?” she said in a sleepy voice.
“How’s the mission?”
“Agent White?”
“Who else? Marylin Monroe?”
“Why are you calling so early?”
“Early? It’s 5 PM here.”
“Maybe in States. But not in Spain.”
“How’s it going?”
“Relax man. I just took part in the first race. It’s nothing like I will finish it in few weeks. It’s gonna take much longer.”
“Have a nice sleep.” he said and hung up.
“Moron.” Natalia mumbled and slept on.
But it seemed like it wasn’t meant for her to sleep that day. In few hours her phone started to ring again. This time it was Diego.
“Yes?” Natalia answered it.
“Hey. How are you doing?”
“Bad.”
“How so?”
“You just woke me up.” Natalia said with her head in the pillow.
“Am I screwed?”
“Nope. Just let me sleep please.”
“OK. But I just wanted to tell you that next race it tomorrow. The same place. The same time.”
Ok. Thx.” Nat said and hung up.

Why can’t they just let me sleep? Whatever. Tommorow another race? Wonder if Alvarez is gonna show up. But I guess he will. How could he miss it? But how to get to him?Doesn’t seem like easy to do. I need to get his attention. But how? I don’t wanna sleep with him. Ergh. Why am I even doing it? The stupid agent would never sent me to China.

Natalia’s brain was working really hard. All those thoughts he had to process. And then she fall asleep again.

The other day she met with Diego. She needed to make him think she is a friend. Natalia didn’t like it. Diego was a nice guy and she was feeling like she is betraying him.

In the evening it all begun again. She registered and won the race. Diego was kinda proud of her. From certain time he wasn’t racing at all, so he enjoyed when someone kicked asses of those idiots.

Gabrielle was watching the race. His best driver Antonio was in a group with some girl and all time looser. He expected him to win. To his surprise, Antonio was beaten by a girl. Gabrielle was furious. Antonio had never loose a race. And now he lost to a girl. What a shame.
“Marco!” he called his bodyguard.
“Yes, sir?”
“Find out who’s that girl. I wanna know every piece of info you can get.”
“Yes, sit.” Marco said and left.
“A girl can’t beat me. Can she?” Gabrielle was thinking. He needed to find a way how to solve this situation. Such an embarrassing will stuck on his image forever if he doesn’t do anything about it.
