Part 31

Many weeks passed by before Chasity could finally leave the hospital.
All of her friends waited for her when Javi took her in a wheelchair outside. She smiled when she saw them all waiting just for her.
They hugged her tightly except for Mikel. He first stared at her but smiled when she smiled to him. He walked up to her, kneeled down and they hugged for a while. ‘Thanks for your support, Mikel,’ she said. ‘I wanted to do anything to keep you alive and happy,’ he replied, kissed her cheek and released her. ‘Shall we go home?’ Javi smiled. ‘Where is actually my home? I mean, one half of my stuff is at Javi’s place and the other half at Mikel’s!’ Chasity said confused. Everybody looked weirdly at eachother but then laughed. ‘We go to Mikel’s home,’ Javi said and winked at Mikel. He was surprised that Javi didn’t said his own home. He just nodded and they all went back home, the place Chasity longed for so long.

When they arrived with the car at Mikel’s home, Alicia and Basty helped Chasity get out because she was still a bit weak. They got out the wheelchair from the back and put it on the ground. Basty helped her in the wheelchair and then Mikel put her forwards to the frontdoor. ‘Ony, can you open the door?’ Mikel said and gave the housekeys to Ony. He opened the door and let Mikel with Chasity in first. Everybody sat down and Susi and Alicia got everybody something to drink. Chasity stayed in the wheelchair while talking. She had the time of her life. She missed these great times with her friends, just talking and joking. She hadn’t seen most of them for such a long time, especially Alicia and Susi not because they were busy with their work. The guys took days off to be there for her what she appreciated a lot. And now she was back... home? Was Mikel’s place her home? She lived for so long in the other house. Javi must’ve been through a hard time when she wasn’t lying next to him at night anymore.
She felt a bit guilty about being so hard against him. She bit her lowerlip while being in her own thoughts. Maybe she’d better not teared the photo apart and just call Susi. And probably it was hard for Javi to know that she moved to Mikel’s place. She frowned. ‘Helloooo? Chas? Are you there?’ she heard but didn’t react. What if Mikel think she liked him very much? Just because she moved to him? She shook her head and sighed.
‘Houston we have a problem,’ she heard the same voice. ‘CHAS!’ the voice yelled and she saw a hand waving in front of her. She woke up and looked confused around. Everybody was looking smiling at her. ‘What?’ she said confused. ‘I asked you something!’ Mikel smiled widely to her. ‘What did you ask?’ she asked. ‘Where you wanna live now. Can we help you finding a new home or you want to stay at Javi’s place or here, you decide, we’re ok with everything,’ Mikel said and smiled again. ‘Erhm... Geez, what a question,’ she said and sighed. ‘I have no idea, I think a new home would be too much these days,’ she said. ‘So, my home or Javi’s home?’ Mikel said and looked at her. Of course, he hoped she would stay here. But what about Javi? They’re still friends but what if Javi still had feelings for her?
‘Erhm...,’ she stuttered and looked at her feet, ignoring the others looks.
‘I really have no idea,’ she sighed then and drove with her wheelchair to the kitchen. She opened the door and ride in. She saw the kitchen. The sink and a small bucket with... knifes... in it. She looked at the floor. It was clean like nothing happened. She saw two girls struggling and fighting in front of her. She imagined it. Chasity breathed faster and faster and soon she was hyperventilating. She grabbed her chest and her eyes were ready to pop out. She bowed forward in the hope she could get more air but she couldn’t. The longer she was in this room, the less breath she got.
Mikel suddenly walked in and saw her. ‘Chasity!’ he said shocked and immediately opened the drawer and got a plastic sack out of it.
‘Breath in here!’ he said and put it against her mouth. She took it and breathed in the sack. Slowly her breath slowered down and she breathed on normal tempo again. Mikel kneeled down in front of her and looked at her. ‘Poor girl, maybe you’d better get some sleep,’ he said while caressing her cheek. She smiled and nodded. He pushed her to the livingroom again.
‘Peeps, Chasity is gonna take a nap!’ Mikel said. Everybody waved at her and went on talking. ‘I can try to walk upstairs on my own while you walk behind me,’ she said and got up slowly. ‘Are you sure?’ he said doubting.
‘Yes, I’m sure. If I never try it I’ll never know if I can do it,’ she said and took the rail with her hands and walked slowly step by step upstairs.
She was almost there, three steps to go. She tried to pull herself up but lost her strength. Her hand released without control and she fell back.
Mikel catched her and they were both shocked. ‘Are you still sure you want to go upstairs by yourself?’ he said while holding her in his arms.
‘I’m still sure. I won’t give up because it went wrong the first time,’ she smiled and looked at him. They stood there in silence.
Mikel came a bit closer with his head again and... AGAIN he stopped a few centimetres in front of her face. Shit, I can’t run away when I’m so weak! Mikel is mean, she thought and got a bit panicked. Is this the moment? Do I love him? She tried to know what she felt. She didn’t feel completely love for him, still only as a friend. She moved her head aside and looked at the stairs now. He looked a bit sad but then took her in his arms upstairs to his bedroom. He layed her down on the bed and put the blankets over her.
‘Thanks,’ she smiled and rested her head on the soft pillow. ‘Sweet dreams,’ he said and kissed her forehead just like he did in the hospital. She smiled again and then closed her eyes and fell asleep right away. Mikel sat down on a chair and watched her sleeping.
Why she avoids it all the time when I try to kiss her? Everytime she looks at me like she wants it too but then... she just avoids it, he thought confused. Maybe she still got feelings for Javi instead of me, why would she feel something for me in the first place? He thought and his face turned sad. Everybody’s happy except me, he thought finally and took a book out of the closet and decided to read it. But his thoughts went to Chasity all the time. So did his eyes. Everytime he saw her face he felt something special inside him. All those years he got the same feeling and it never changed. Why he let Veronica flirt with him?! He had to go to Chasity. She didn’t kiss him for fun years ago. She meant it and he could see that. But it’s too late. At least for a long time. He shook his head desperately. And soon she’ll become famous and they could spend even less time together. He smiled when he thought about her eyes which were sparkling when he had a surprise for her again just like when they went to the pool... or her laugh when she laughed about his jokes. It made him feel so good inside. But Javi... he said to him that Mikel and Chasity would be a good couple. Was he really speaking the truth? He didn’t know and he didn’t want to think about it anymore. He stood up and went to the bathroom to drink some water.

Another two weeks passed by and Chasity was completely rested. She couldn’t wait to settle things with Marco and record her first single.
Marco was very glad to see her again and felt really sorry because he visited her so less. She didn’t mind because he sent flowers for her and that was enough. They made an appointment to start writing lyrics. Chasity couldn’t wait to get started because she loved writing lyrics.
She decided to stay at Mikel’s home but she prefered staying far away from the kitchen. She just needed a few days to get over it completely.
