Part 14

In the break I told about the accident.
‘And my parents died.. The only family I have left is my sister Lynn.. But she lives in Australia.. I can’t go back to Holland.. If I do, Lynn has to give up her live for me, and I don’t wanna ruin her dream.. She always wanted to go to Australia.. She don’t have to end her dream for me..’
Mikel hugged me. I whipped my tears away.
‘Maybe I know a solution.. But I have to talk about it with Ana..’
I smiled.
‘You are all so sweet.. Really..’
Everybody gave me a hug.


We drove back to Cádiz. I went upstairs. Basty was talking with Ana about a solution for my problem.

‘Mom? May I ask you something?’
‘Of cource.. ‘
‘Mar got terrible news today.. Her parents died in a accident on a circuit in Holland. Her dad was a manager. One of the racers lost control on the steering wheel and drove into the stand. Now she is alone with her sister, but she lives in Australia.. Can.. Can we adopted her or something like that? That we are her new family?’
‘I think that it’s possible.. How kind of you to think of her! But if she’s gonna be my daughter, I will change her name.. Call her.’
‘Thank you mom!’
And he walked to the stairway.

‘Coming!!’
I walked downstairs. Ana gave me a very big hug.
‘I’m sorry to hear that.. About your parents chica.. But Basty had an idea..’
I looked surprised at him. He blushed a bit and smiled at me. We sat down on the cauch and Ana started to explain the idea.
‘And if you want to, you can be my real daughter.. But, I have to change your name into Maria or something like that, because I can’t call you Mar for always..’
‘You.. You really wanna do this for me? I don’t know what to say.. I’d loved to be Maria.’
I said with a smile.
‘Now you are my real sister..’
Basty said and hugged me. Well.. I was not official adopted yet. But Ana called to fostercare and settled it. The papers would come by the mail.
I took my mobile. I wanted to call someone to tell the news. But who of my friends? I chose a number and made the first call.
‘Hola Mikel! I have great news!’
-‘Tell me!’
-‘Ana is gonna adopt me! So I have a new family!’
-‘That’s great news!! Do the others know it already?’
-‘No.. You are the first one..’
-‘We have to celebrate that! Let them come to my place tonight around 7.. tell them than, ok?’

‘How did you know who I was calling?’
Basty smiled.

I showed him my tongue.
‘It’s not your business.. But we have to be at his house at 7 tonight.. I will tell the others to be there.’

Quick I took a shower and putted some new clothes on. This time my jeans and a gray T-shirt. My motor jacket. Where was it?! It was a gift of my dad for my seventeenth birthday. A! Founded! I took it with me downstairs.

‘Ready.’
His motor was fixed so we went by motor. He gave me the helmet. And we drove to Madrid.

Mikel and Sabine were waiting for us outside the house. Basty stopped the motor. I took the helmet of.

Sabine replied.
‘Thank you! It was a gift from my dad for my seventeenth birthday.. I was really happy with it..’
We walked inside. Ans, Ony, Javi and Hen were sitting there.

‘Ah.. Well, we didn’t wanna miss the great news!’
Javi smiled at me.
‘Do you have a motor?’
‘Why?’
‘Well, you’re wearing a motor jacket..’
Javi rolled with his eyes.
‘We are not blind Ony..’
I gave an evil at Javi.
‘Yes, I have a motor.. Back in Holland.. A Ducati 1098. Black..’
‘Ok.. Enough boy-talk here! Why did we have to come?’
‘Sorry.. I like to talk about motors and cars.. Ok. I have great news. You all know that my parents died.. And now had Basty an idea. He asked Ana to adopt me. So now I have a family again. Ana changed my name so she can call me just with my full name. My new name is Rosa Maria, but you can call me Maria or Mar.’
They all looked at me with surprised faces. Only Mikel didn’t. He smiled.
‘That’s great news amiga!’
Ony said and he hugged me. So did Ans, Hen, Javi and Sabine. I was so happy.
‘So now Basty is your big brother! Right? When is your birthday?’
‘20th of December.’
‘Ha! I’m older!! 28th of February. I’m getting 20 than.’
He smiled.
‘Not fair!! 19..’
And I pouted my lower lip.

After a few houres Basty and I drove back. I was so happy! I really hoped that they will send my motor to Spain..

‘Maria! I have news for you. They called from Holland. They will send all your stuff here. Even your motor.’
‘YAY!! My motor!! I missed him!!’
I danced around the room. Finally good news after the accident. This wasn’t over yet. It was just started.

Part 15

Three days later the letter from Fostercare came. Because of my age it wasn’t possible to adopt me, so I just lived here, with Ana and Basty. But it was possible to change my name into Rosa Maria, but Ana called me Maria. I had called Lynn and told her about it. We had talked about the accident and we both cried. Al though my problem was solved now, I still missed my parents and cried myself into sleep every night. I was sad, coz I didn’t had a chance to say goodbye. But I would get over it, paso a paso.

‘Maria!! There’s something for you!’
Basty yelled upstairs. Quick I ran into the hall. Outside stood a bus with a trailer for a motor.
‘My Ducati!!’’
I jumped up and down. Now I could go on my own to places. I helped the driver with getting him out of the trailer. Basty stared at my motor.
‘Wow!! Your motor is amazing!!’
‘I know! That’s why I love him so much! I got him from my parents..’
‘Put him in the garage. There’s some space left for a motor.’
Ana said. Basty opened the door for me and I drove him in. All my other stuff came out of the bus. My books, clothes.. Everything. Quick we brought it to my room. This whole thing made me stronger for somehow. I knew how thin the line between live and dead was. My live was changed completely.

That afternoon I got a textmessege:
‘Hola! Do you wanna go out with me 2night?

I was surprised. I called Hen.
-‘Hey!’
-‘Hey! I need your help..’
-‘Tell me..’
-‘Mikel asked me out.. What shall I do? Say yes?’

I said. And like always we were having a pillow fight. It was funny to hit him. Basty left after the fight with feathers in his hair. Quick I texted Mikel back:

It didn’t took long before he texted me back:

19.30.. I had two houres to go.. I stood in front of the closet deciding what to wear.
‘Hmm.. Well, my favorite piece of clothing: jeans. And a white blouse.’
I took a shower, did my hair and walked downstairs.
‘Where are you going to?’
Ana asked me.
‘She has a date!!’
‘Basty! You mean..!’
I ran into the livingroom and jumped on him.
‘You are the one who’s gonna regret this time!!’
And I started to tickle him. Ana looked amused at us.
‘Whahah! But it’s true!! Hahahaaha! You haaahhahave a date with Mikel!!’
I smiled.
‘Do you have a problem with it?’
‘No..’
And he took a deep breath.
‘Good. Than you can drive with the car to Madrid. Mikel will bring me back home.’
‘And if I won’t?’
‘Muahaha… You don’t wanna know..’
He looked scared at me.
‘You will get an another pillow against your head!!’

He joked.

I walked to the bathroom to fix my hair. And thanks to Basty it was all messed up. Quick I putted it how it has to do and walked back.
‘Ready?’
‘Ready.’
And I putted my motor jacket on. Even it’s warm at day, in the evening the temperature drops till 17 degrees.


I was early. It was just 19.27. I heard a motor coming. I looked at the way of the sound. There came a black motor. He stopped in front of me. The driver took his helmet of and turned the engine of.
