Part 11

I took the helmet of and shook my head. I heard someone comming to us.
'Hola!'
I looked in the eyes of Mikel.
'Buenas días!'
Also Javi, Ony, Hen, Ans and Sabine came standing with us. While laughing and talking we walked inside the building. We all sat in the same class. Together we walked to our first subjesct: Spanish.
'May I sit next to you?'
Mikel asked me. The others looked amuzed at us.
'Sure.. Maybe you can help me with translations of the lesson..'
'Of cource.'
And he sat down next to me. The teacher came in.
'Buenas días. I'll give Spanish in English today, but tomorrow, I'll give it in Spanish.'
And he began with the lesson. I thought it would be difficult, but Mikel helped me a lot. The school bell rang and we walked to our next subject: Biology. This wasn't hard too. The things who were standing in the book, I learned in Holland. This time Javi sat next to me, and helped me if I needed help. Soon we could leave. English. It was so easy! sabine, Hen, Ans and I have learned this in the first year of high school. So we helped Basty, Mikel, Javi and Ony. We had finished our homework in the lesson.

That afternoon:

'Shall we do our homework together?'
Mikel sugested.
'Good idea! Where?'
'Mmm.. You may say it Javi.'
'Okay.. At my place around four?'
Everybody nodded. Basty and I drove back home.

Ana had made tea for us with home made cake.
'Mom? We're going to Javi to do our homework.'
'Ok.. Be home for dinner.'
We drank our tea and I walked upstairs to do my hair. Two minutes later I was back.
'Ready?'
'Ready.'
I putted the helmet on and walked to his motor. In no time we were in Sevilla.

Javi's house had a view on the sea. It was a nice white house with a balcony. Just like Mikel's house it was big. Their parents must be rich.
'What kind of work do the parents of Mikel and Javi?'
'Why? Uhmm.. Mikel's dad is a surgeon and his mom is a teacher. Javi's mom is a teacher at the unerversity and his dad is detective.'
I took the helmet of. Somebody claxoned at us. I turned around and smiled.

There he sat. Mikel. He smiled at me. Javi must have heard him, coz he came outside. We all said hi and walked inside.
'Ony and Ans are sitting in the backyard.'
We followed him. They were sitting on the grass. We joyned them.
'Hè Mar! You said your dad is kinda into cars.. What is his job?'
Ony asked me.
'Oh.. Nothing special.. He's just a manager of a formula 1 racer..'
The four boys looked at me.
'Hehe! JUST a manager?!'
'Yes Ony. JUST a manager.'
'He's our little blonde idiot..'
'Javi! Don't teas him like that! You know he can't help it!'
Basty tried to come up for Ony.
'Well.. For me it's just.. I grew up with it. And with a pasion for fast cars. But I like motors too.'
And I winked.
'Enough drooling about her dad! Let's do our homework,,'
Ans said.
Mikel smiled at me. he helped me with my Spanish homework. I tried to explain the English grammar.
'Ah! So if you do that or that you know if it's..'
'Sí! It's easy.'
'English isn't so hard, I just didn't understand this.. Thank you!'
He smiled again. the others were looking at us.
'Hmm.. i think he really likes her...'
Javi hit Ony against the back of his head.'
'Hè! Why did you hit me!'
'Coz you were acting blonde again!'
'Javi! Don't hit him! He can't help it, and for all those blonde things of him, you have to hit him too much..'
Basty smiled.

Two houres later we left. Basty had prommised Ana to be home for dinner. I was somewhere between heaven and earth again so I was suprised when we stopped.
'Are we allready home?'
'Yes chica..'

Ana had cooked delicious. I didn't knew that paella was so tasty!


I was watching tv with Basty.
'And?'
'What and?'
'What what?'
'What what? What do you mean with and?'
'What do you think of Mikel?'
He grinned. I groaned and threw a pillow against his head.
'Hmpf!This is the second time you do that! You're gonna regret those actions!'
'O yeah? What will be my punishment this time?'
He thrwethe pillow back. I hit him again and a pillow fight was started.

Nice. Who is the formula 1 driver? Just curiosity.

Tell me a name.. i have no idea about those drivers! The only one I know is Michael Schumager (proberly I wrote his name wrong..). Do you know a good racer?

Actually Michael Schumager never raced in F1. But Michael Schumacher did. Other drivers? Lewis Hamilton ( I hate him ), Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa ( ), Fernando Alonso, Heikki Kovalainen, Robert Kubica, Nick Heidfeld and many others.

Part 13


I lived here for five weeks now. My parents called me sometimes. I was glad to hear them. Sometimes I missed them. But Ana was very kind to me and treated me as her own daughter.

I woke up thanks to Basty who called me. It was a day like every other: School, homework.. But since a few weeks I had a hobby. I was interested in salsa dancing so I took lessons. I bought them with the money my parents gave me to do something nice here. And this was nice. And the funniest thing was that Mikel was my teacher. And he was a good teacher.

As every morning I had took a shower and stood in front of my closet. Today a skirt, coz I knew we were taking the car today. Basty’s motor was broken. So today a skirt till my knees. With a short sleeved blouse. I walked downstairs.
‘Wow..’
‘Basty shut your mouth.. You are attracting flies!’
I joked. Ana and I began to laugh. Basty looked at me like I was an alien or so.
‘What? Not good?’
‘No! It’s just.. I never saw you wearing a skirt.. But it looks great!’
Quick we ate our breakfast. I was curious to Basty’s car. We walked outside and there stood a beautiful Citroën C1. A silver one.
‘This is Ana’s car, but we can borrow it..’
We got into the car and drove to school.

I got out of the car and took my schoolbag.
‘Mar? Is that you? You are wearing a skirt! Nice!’
Ans said. Hen and Sabine looked at me amazed and smiling. Mikel walked to us and gave me a hug like always.
‘You look amazing in that skirt chica.’
I smiled shyly and we walked into the school.

First subject: Spanish. I was getting better in it. It was really easy now, and Mikel, Javi, Ony and Basty helped me a lot.

We were at English when somebody knocked on the door. After a answer of the teacher the door opened and there stood the principal.
‘Marjolein? Is she here?’
He asked in Spanish.
‘I’m here..’
I replied also in Spanish. I had to follow him to his office. Basty looked at me with a worried face. I looked back. I knew this couldn’t mean something good.

‘Take a seat.’
I sat down on a chair.
‘I don’t know how to tell you this.. It’s terrible..’
I was getting frightened.
‘I got a call from Holland this morning. Your parents.. They were at a race. First row. But one of the racers lost control of the steering wheel and drove into the stand. Fernando Alonso , that was the racer, survived the crash.. But your parents.. They died.. I’m sorry..’
My parents.. Dead?
‘What? And.. Now?’
The tears appeared in my eyes. I felt one rolling over my cheek. I cried without making any noise.
‘I don’t have family left.. My grand parents died a long time ago, and I don’t have aunts or uncles.. The only family I have is my sister, Lynn.. But she lives in Australia.. Where can I go?’
‘We will think something for you.. It’s gonna be ok. Believe me.’
He let me go back to the class. I came in and my friends saw immediately that there was something wrong.
‘Later.. In the break I will tell you..’
My parents dead.. My sister in Australia.. I was alone.. Where could I go? Was this the end?
