Part 6

My Dear Diary,

You’ll never guess what happened yesterday! Since the beginning of the week Monika and Mikel have been going out on successive dates and so they did yesterday. She told me they had gone to the cinema and watched “Mamma Mia”! Then, they went for a walk during which Mikel kissed her and asked her to be his girlfriend! She couldn’t believe her ears! She kept staring at his green eyes in disbelief.
“Are you serious?” she asked him
“Of course” he said awaiting her answer
She didn’t answer. She fell on his arms and kissed him passionately. So, naturally Monika has been “flying without wings” since last night.
Ony and I also went for a walk yesterday. We talked about the two Ms (that’s how we now call Mikel and Monika), Javi and Jess, Basty and Laura. He confided in me that Javi and Basty were actually interested in the girls in an over-friendly way and were considering the possibility of their accepting their invitation to go out with them. Well, I couldn’t resist and told the girls what I had learned. They started screaming excitedly.
But before we were done with our walk, Ony halted. He cleared his throat and said:
“ Amanda, there’s something I wanted to ask you since our first date but I couldn’t tell what your reaction would be”
I didn’t know what to say so kept looking at his Spanish eyes silently.
“Do you…want…to be…my girlfriend? Amanda I love you”
I kept silent for a while and a tear fell suddenly on my hand. A tear of happiness.
“I’m sorry, Amanda. Did I say something that hurt you? Don’t cry please” he said and turned his eyes down on the floor.
“Yes” I said then.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. Silly me” he kept on trying to smile.
“No, you didn’t understand. I meant yes, I want to be your girlfriend” I said smiling
“Oh Amanda! Mi Amanda!” He put his arms around my waist and lifted me up. I immediately told him to put me down and he…kissed me! We sent the following hours kissing and hugging until at around 3 o’clock we reached the door of his apartment. We went upstairs and sat on the sofa where we fell asleep. When I woke up it was nearly 11, which meant that I had already missed half of this morning’s lecture so I decided to go straight home. The typical interrogation followed and I was forced to relate everything to the girls.

My Dear Diary,
For the past three weeks the guys and us haven’t seen each other because we’ve been too busy studying for our exams. But it was worth it. We all did very well so now that it’s all over we’ve planned to gather up and go to some place tonight. But, oh! The bell is ringing! I’ll relate everything later!

When the bell rang we all ran to the door and tried to open it simultaneously.
“Wow, you look beautiful” the boys said like a choir
“Thank you” Laura replied, “So, where are we going?”
“Well, as a matter of fact, we couldn’t agree upon that so we decided to each grab a girl and go to the place they want and we can all meet later at the club. What do you say, Laura, are you coming?” Basty said.
As a result, Basty got Laura, Mikel Monika, Javi Jess and left each following a different direction.
Ony and I left to a Greek restaurant. We ordered pastitsio and mousaka, which was delicious. I especially loved feta, the tastiest cheese I’ve ever eaten! Then, we decided to not go to the club but to Ony’s house instead where we had a very special night…
As for the others, Monika told me that she and Mikel went to a Chinese restaurant where they were given fortune cookies. Monika’s said: “be patient and happiness will come to your life like the sun rising every day” and Mikel’s said “ A diamond may be valuable but it’s worthless if you have no one to give it to”. After they left the restaurant, they had a walk. Much later they realized that they should have gone to the club two hours ago so they made up their minds to not go at all. They spent the rest of the night at Mikel’s apartment, which was their own special too…
Laura and Basty chose an Italian restaurant with live music. When the violinist was over their table playing the most romantic tunes ever (Laura saying) Basty told her that he truly loved her. Of course, Laura responded positively so they are now officially a couple! After dinner they went for a romantic walk at the beach and naturally forgot all about our meeting at the club. They ended up at Basty’s where they also spent the night in a special way…
Javi and Jess decided upon a restaurant that served Spanish cuisine so that Jess have a taste of Spain. In fact, she is the only one of us four who hasn’t been to Spain since even Laura spent some of her childhood there. While at the restaurant, they couldn’t help staring at each other’s eyes. When they left Javi kissed her and told her that he had fallen in love with her since the very first time they met. Javi’s apartment was their destination after that where (as you may have already guessed) they had a very special night…
