I was banging the bed with my foot.
‘Come on, answer it,’ I said.
‘Peep…peep…peep…’ the phone answered.
I put down the phone.
‘He is not answering?’ my cousin asked.
‘Maybe he even gave me the wrong number, who knows…’ I said and scowled.
‘Oh come on, maybe he is just busy,’ she said. ‘Anyways, I need to go to the hotel’s café now, somebody’s waiting for me,’ my cousin said and blushed.
‘Ooooooh, the guide maybe?’ I asked.
‘Maybe… But if you find Javi for me, I will be blushing more,’ she laughed. ‘Well, wish me good luck,’ she added and I hugged her. Then the phone started ringing. I took it, my cousin left.
‘Yes?’ I answered.
‘It’s me,’ Mikel’s voice said. ‘You called?’
‘Yes, like 20 times already…’ I said.
‘Oh and what made me so honored?’ Mikel asked sarcastically.
‘Well, a little problem…’ I said.
‘Yes?’ he asked.
‘Well, about my blouse…’ I said.
‘Yes?’ he asked. His voice was getting irritated again. The whole event didn’t bring any happy memories to both of us.
‘Well, I faced something…’ I said and yet smiled. His anger was amusing me.
‘Yes?’ he asked once again.
‘Well, I don’t know where I can wash it,’ I finally said.
‘And?’ Mikel asked.
‘What ‘and’? Look, your girlfriend was acting like…’ I started saying, but heard that Mikel sighed hardly, so I stopped.
‘Ok ok, I KNOW. So what do you want from me?’ he asked.
‘I will forget everything and even pay for washing myself, but only if you…’ I was saying, but then I bit my lip. Maybe I was too cheeky.
‘Only if I what?’ Mikel asked.
‘Take me to a place where I can wash those damned ice-cream away,’ I said. I heard Mikel muttering in Spanish. After few moments he stopped.
‘Ok… Tell me where you are staying,’ he said. I told him the name of the hotel and there was silence for few minutes.
‘Hello?’ I said sarcastically.
‘You are staying there?’ Mikel asked.
‘No, I was just kidding,’ I said irritated. ‘Why should I lie? I just want my blouse clean and shiny again,’ I said.
‘Alright, meet me outside then… After 15 minutes,’ Mikel said.
‘You will be here so soon?’ I asked.
‘Peep…peep…peep…’ the phone answered.
‘Amazing!’ I said sarcastically and put down the phone.

It was a great evening when I was standing outside with a bag in my hands and walking around. The weather was windy, but it wasn’t cold even though I was wearing only a light shirt on me and some short pants. But I didn’t even notice the wind or anything… I was waiting for Mikel and getting a bit nervous. After all, I didn’t know him… But I overcame all worries and took few deep sighs.
‘He will come…he will come…he is not fooling me around,’ I was saying to myself to make me feel braver.
And then a bike stopped nearby. I looked at it and had a bad feeling…
‘Hey, jump on,’ I heard Mikel’s voice from under the helmet. ‘There is another helmet there,’ he added. But I was standing still. Mikel took off his helmet. ‘Hey? Ahem, hello? It is me?’ he said.
‘Couldn’t you find another type of transportation?’ I asked worried.
‘Bikes are cool. Come on?’ he said.
‘And I will have to sit there?’ I asked and came closer.
‘Come on, just sit on the bike, you’ll like it,’ Mikel said and was getting irritated.
I sat and looked around. The whole bike thing made me feel like a scared little girl.
‘Don’t forget the helmet,’ Mikel said. I put on the helmet.
‘Uhm… Eeeerh… Ehem… A little help needed,’ I said.
‘What’s wrong now?’ Mikel asked and turned to see me. ‘Have you never tried a helmet on?’ he asked and helped to put it on in a right way.
‘No, I don’t like bikes… First a bike, then a coffin…’ I muttered. Mikel laughed.
‘Right, well… Shall we go now?’ he asked.
‘Yes yes, the faster we get there, the sooner I can forget this thing,’ I said.
‘Then could you finally put your arms around my waist?’ he asked.
‘What?’ I asked.
‘Arms on waist,’ Mikel repeated. ‘Come on, we can’t stand here forever,’ he said. I put my arms around his waist slowly, then he took them and put them in another way, more close and tight. ‘Here, don’t be so shy,’ he said.
After 10 minutes I forgot what it means to be shy. I was holding Mikel in my arms and I was so scared of riding the bike that I wanted him to hold me safe instead. At the same time, riding a bike gave me this amazing feeling, it was like…like a drug. I forgot all things and there was only speed, wind and Mikel…
After some more time I felt Mikel stopping.
‘Well, we’re here,’ he said. ‘You can release me now,’ he laughed.
‘So…sorry,’ I muttered. I was still shocked. I slowly moved my arms. Mike stood up and took off his helmet. I also stood up, but my body was like made of cotton. Despite the freedom feeling, I was all covered with fear and shock.
‘Will you walk around with helmet?’ Mikel asked me. It was obvious I amused him with my silly behavior. It made me feel stupid and irritated.
‘No!’ I yelled.
‘Oh come on, I am sorry, don’t get mad… I am not laughing at you, I am just…’ he was saying and taking off my helmet. Then he caressed my cheek. It lasted 3 seconds, but it calmed me down.
‘Alright, sorry,’ I said.
‘No, I am sorry… You look scared and shocked and I am behaving like an ass,’ he said.
‘Yes, you are…’ I agreed.
‘Not an answer I was waiting for,’ he smiled.
‘Can you be serious?’ I asked.
‘I am not sure…’ he smiled wider.
‘Ok… Whatever… Just let’s go and get my blouse cleaned,’ I said and we walked inside some building. Mikel talked to some girl and, after signing some photos of d’Nash (Mikel tried to hide them from me so that I don’t see them), he took my bag. ‘Yes, that’s the blouse, thanks for asking,’ I said sarcastically.
‘Oh come on… I didn’t do anything bad now, did I?’ he asked. Mikel smiled and I swore in my mind for answering him with a smile. ‘Your blouse will be cleaned by tomorrow’s morning,’ he added.
‘Ok, amazing. I will pay myself,’ I said, but saw Mikel taking out his wallet. ‘No no no, I will pay,’ I said and pushed him away. ‘How much?’ I asked. The girl showed me. I took out my wallet and paid. Mikel put his wallet back into his pocket.
‘You know, you are stubborn,’ he said.
‘Thanks,’ I answered.
‘It’s not a good thing,’ he laughed.
‘Better than being so in love with myself like some people,’ I said and looked at Mikel.
‘I am not in love with yourself,’ he laughed again.
‘Get back to Earth, mister. You are not Don Juan or Prince Charming,’ I said and scowled.
‘I know… I am better,’ he smiled and sent me an air-kiss.
‘Get out of my sight,’ I said and laughed. He was so funny even though he was acting like a narcissist.
‘Yes, I was pleased to meet you too… Farewell, my dear,’ he laughed and was walking out of the building already when a thought passed my head.
‘Wait!’ I yelled and ran after him. I grabbed his arm. ‘No no, you still have to take me home,’ I said.
‘We didn’t agree on that. We only agreed that I will take you here,’ he smiled. It was like if he wanted to say he is not serious.
‘Funny… Now get me back home,’ I also smiled.
‘I will think about it,’ he said and wanted to go to his bike, but I didn’t release his arm.
‘You’re thinking long,’ I said. ‘Let me help you,’ I added and went to the bike. This time I sat on it first and put on the helmet.
‘You’re learning fast,’ Mikel said and raised an eyebrow.
‘And you’re slow. Shall we go now?’ I asked and we both laughed.
