Part 7
‘What the hell are you thinking?’ the police chief, so called “Big Daddy”, yelled at two people in his cabinet. ‘You are on his tail almost two weeks and you cannot find evidence?’ the man was furious. He hit the desk with his fist. ‘I want to see him on a plate like a Christmas chicken in the following seven days or else I hope to never see you two again!’
‘But boss, we cannot walk around in hotel! They all are already suspicious!’ Miguel tried saying, but Big Daddy’s eyes became redder.
‘Then let real professionals work with it! And you!’ the man pointed at the girl. ‘I think I told you that if you fail you can forget your carrier! Miguel, I asked you to teach her and not to sleep with her!’
‘Sir, everything will be done,’ the girl said quietly.
‘I indeed hope so! You have seven days! Miguel, Alex, I repeat, you have SEVEN days,’ BD yelled and pointed at the door. The chit-chat was over.
Two people left the cabinet all nervious. They had only seven days, some clues and one crazy killer… Things were getting dark and shitty.
‘We need to start seriously working on it,’ the girl said.
‘Yep… Time’s running and BD will hang our heads on his wall if we really fail,’ Miguel said.
‘Jesus, it’s my first job here and I already am with shit in my pants. Damn, I want this job!’ the girl said desperately. She looked at Miguel and thought that she gave away so much for that workplace that it was really unfair to lose it so soon.
‘We’ll do it, don’t worry. Just don’t bite my tongue once again,’ Miguel said in teasing voice, but the girl wasn’t happy at all…
She was almost crying infact. ‘I am not so stupid…not so weak…I am strong,’ she thought and for the first time the girl doubted it.
‘Don’t start crying like a chicken now,’ Miguel said rough when he noticed her eyes full of tears. He grabbed her arm rudely and the girl realized she was even more scared of Miguel than of losing her job…
‘Uhm, Miguel…uhm…I need to go shopping now. Food shopping, you know,’ the girl lied and hoped that he will let her go shopping alone.
‘Women…’ he said irritated. ‘Don’t think I will help you around, you know I hate shopping,’ Miguel said.
‘I will do it myself. Don’t worry,’ the girl felt a relief. Out of a sudden she wanted to be somewhere far far away from that man… And she swore she will never provoke him by kissing him or anything like that.

Mikel was standing next to shelves with milk and butter and it was really cold there. He shivered few times and felt like he was one of those milk packs.
‘Remind me, why are we here?’ Mikel said.
‘Cause Ony asked us to come with him,’ Javi said.
‘Ony likes shopping, so we are stuck here for at least three hours,’ Basty added.
‘Maybe somebody likes standing next to freezers? Cause I don’t,’ Mikel said and rubbed his arm. Suddenly he saw somebody walking around in the shop. Mikel duck.
‘Uhm, Mikel?’ Javi asked.
‘Are you so interested in that milk or what?’ Basty asked as well.
‘Uhm…I…I lost my wallet!’ Mikel lied.
‘Come on, you baby, let’s find it then,’ Basty said and rolled his eyes.
‘Basty, you are as much a kid as I am,’ Mikel said hurt.
‘Ok, fine, guys, come on?’ Javi calmed them down. ‘Let’s focus on wallet,’ he added.
‘I…I…I think I lost it somewhere…uhm…’ Mikel was thinking of the farthest place from the shelves they were staring at while Ony was around searching for something. ‘Uhm…in the part where they sell bread.’
‘Ok, let’s go through there then, it will be faster,’ Javi said and grabbed Mikel’s arm. Mikel stood up and realized he made a huge mistake. Javi was dragging him right into the wrong person.
‘No no no NO!’ Mikel was saying, but then he bumped into a girl.
‘Whooops, sorry miss,’ Javi said. ‘I wasn’t looking where I’m dragging him,’ he was sorry.
‘You?’ the girl just asked. She seemed to be a little bit shocked.
‘Who? Me?’ Mikel pretended not to know her. He wasn’t scared of her, he was rather thinking what would guys say if they heard she hit him.
‘Yes you,’ the girl laughed. Something in Mikel’s eyes made her laugh. ‘Look, no need to be so scared of me,’ she said.
‘I am not scared of YOU!’ Mikel almost yelled.
‘Uhm, Mikel, won’t you introduce this young beautiful friend of yours to us?’ Basty asked.
‘Uhm…she….uhm…her name is…uhm….her name…?’ Mikel started stuttering.
‘I am Alexandra. You can call me Alex though,’ the girl smiled and gave her hand to Basty, then to Javi. After that Alex looked at Mikel.

‘Uhmmmmm…’ Mikel just released some sounds.
‘Mikel?’ Javi said.
‘Is something wrong with you, Mikel?’ Basty also asked worried, because Mikel’s face was quite red and shocked. Alexandra shivered. “Mikel…” she thought.
‘Indeed…Mikel…is something wrong?’ Alex asked. She looked a little bit worried as well. ‘Is it because of the eye?’ she asked and Mikel’s face became even redder.
‘No, pleeeease, not THAT,’ he was thinking in his mind.
‘Look, I am sorry it happened like that, I thought you were about to rob me,’ Alex said and Javi looked at Basty. They both blinked and then looked at Mikel.
‘Erhm…’ Mikel released some sounds again and couched.
‘NO WAY!!!’ Mikel heard Ony’s voice and his legs were about to break and let Mikel fall on the ground. But the guy tried to stay cool. ‘You were beaten up by a GIRL?’ Ony laughed and came closer to the guys.
‘And those three guys?’ Basty asked.
‘What three guys?’ Alexandra sounded interested.
‘Well, Mikel told us he was attacked by three guys,’ Javi explained and hardly hid his smile.
‘What?’ Alexandra asked and she smiled. Mikel looked at her smile and for a moment he was happy she smiled, because she seemed to be very sad and depressed. ‘Actually, I was walking home and one guy tried to kiss me. I hit him and then saw…Mikel…coming towards me. I was a bit drunk and shocked, so I hit him as well and ran away,’ she told the story fast.
‘Wow, a girl like a stone,’ Ony said impressed.
‘Aha… Well, the guy doesn’t have few teeth anymore and his nose is broken,’ Mikel muttered. He wanted to disappear.
‘Oh God, seriously?’ Alex asked. ‘Well, maybe next time he will think before acting.’ She looked at Mikel. Mikel looked at her.
‘Erhm, I think we need to go back to finding Mikel’s wallet while he will chat with his good old friend,’ Javi said and dragged Basty away, while he was muttering “Mikel didn’t lose it, he was hiding from that girl” and Alex was laughing softly.
‘I need to get back to shopping,’ Ony said. ‘I can’t find the hair gel ANYWHERE,’ he whined and walked away.
‘Your friends are funny,’ Alex said to Mikel.
‘Aha…’ Mikel just muttered.
‘Look, I am very sorry about the eye,’ Alex said. She wanted to say she was sorry, she was feeling ashamed. Mikel looked so serious that she even felt worse. ‘Look, you can hit me back if you want,’ she tried to joke.
‘I don’t beat women. Guess why I didn’t kick your ass when you kicked mine,’ Mikel said.
‘It’s ok, I got used to beatings,’ Alex said and her face became serious again. Mikel felt sorry for her all of a sudden, because something in her voice sounded touchy.
‘Uhm…I…well…’ Mikel felt uncomfortable.
‘It’s ok, don’t get me wrong. I am a cop,’ Alexandra smiled, but she thought that Miguel’s hands were often trying to hurt her. She suddenly felt really bad when she thought that Miguel is waiting at the hotel.
‘Is something wrong with you? You look pale,’ Mikel asked. “What a caring guy” Alex thought and tried to smile.
‘No, everything is fine. I just have a lot of work to do…’ the girl said.
‘Ok, well I won’t keep you here any longer then’ Mikel said.
‘No, look, I want to…dunno, buy you a cup of coffee? Or something? I really feel bad about the eye,’ Alex said.
‘I am quite busy,’ Mikel said. Alexandra became a bit sad. Not because she wanted to spend time with Mikel… She was sad, because she had to go back to hotel and spend time with Miguel.
‘It’s ok, I understand. Well, then I hope a sincere “Sorry” is enough,’ she said and started walking away. Mikel was looking at her and thinking that he had never seen a weirder girl ever.
Alexandra was gone out of his sight and he thought he didn’t want to go searching for guys, so Mikel left the shop and started walking home.
All the time he was thinking of that weird sad girl and he felt some connection to her. They both were kind of unhappy even though it looked another way around. And he didn’t know that Alex was thinking of that silly guy from the shop on her way home as well…
