After three more days my doctor came into the ward. He asked me how I feel and took a close look at my health indicators. After ten minutes he smiled to me and I understood – I was going home. Finally! My heart was almost singing with happiness. All the hospital’s smell was so deep in my skin, that it was making me sick. Or maybe there were other reasons for my illness… For my new illness.
When a familiar guy came into the ward, I smiled so wide, that felt my jaws hurting for 10 minutes after my super-smile. He laughed softly and grabbed my hand gently. I was sitting on the bed and looking at him.
‘Take me home,’ I whispered.
‘Don’t worry, you will be there in few moments,’ he promised and helped me to stand up. He took me out the building and I felt my lungs full of fresh air. I was still a little bit weak, but I was bravely walking towards a car he showed me. He helped me to sit into it and he drove me home…
Home… That word was so sweet to me. Maybe because I wished to finally find my place, something really about me… You see, my memory was still like a cracked mirror, I was seeing fragments of my life and yet didn’t know their meaning. So I thought that my home will give me a wave of memories.
‘You seem to be so dreamy,’ he laughed next to me. I looked at him. Indeed, I was so deeply in my thoughts that I almost forgot him. ‘Is everything fine?’ he then asked. He stole a glance to look at me and then got back to the road with his eyes.
‘Oh, yes… But you could do something for me,’ I said.
He turned at me so fast that almost hit another car.
‘HEY, careful,’ I said and smiled nerviously. Somehow I felt scared to be in the car.
‘Sorry,’ he muttered guilty and looked back at the way. ‘What do you want me to do? Just say, I’ll do anything. Even if you ask me to run around the downtown naked,’ he laughed. I also laughed quietly.
‘I really like you,’ I suddenly whispered. ‘Well, no wonder,’ I laughed, but this time he got a bit nervous. ‘Look, just drive now and at my place I will tell you, alright?’ I said, because I got worried of him driving again. He seemed to be red and pale at the same time, I saw his blood pulsing on his neck and felt a weird wish to touch it with my fingertips….
“It’s not weird at all,” I thought and turned my eyes away from his neck. “After all, we have been together for probably a long time,” I added in my mind and smiled. Yes, I thought we were a happy couple…

‘Here we are,’ he stopped the car after some time. I looked at a beautiful house and felt my jaws wide opened again.
‘This is MINE?’ I asked and rubbed my eyes.
‘Well…’ he smiled. ‘Come on, let’s get out the car. I still owe you something you shall ask me for,’ he said and a tense appeared in his smile. I was a bit worried. I thought that maybe I said something wrong…
He took my things and after a moment he opened the door. I came into a hall and looked around. Everything was familiar…and yet so far away. I was trembling a little bit, probably because of my weakness, but maybe the house also had some influence. I felt so lost…
‘Well, welcome back home,’ I heard his voice behind me. I suddenly turned around and looked at his face. It was very near… His eyes were looking at my lips for a moment and then he looked into my eyes. He was worried and tensed.
‘I said something wrong?’ I asked silently. ‘I am so sorry… I wish I could remember all. I wish I could remember you,’ I said. He wanted to say something, but I pressed my finger to his lips. ‘No, you have to listen to me. I…I feel so lost. Forgive me if I do something wrong… I mean, I said it’s my house and you looked so weird… Is it our house?’ I asked and looked into his eyes.
He didn’t answer.
‘Oh, I am so stupid,’ I said and smiled. ‘Sure it is ours,’ I added and felt a tear on my cheek. ‘Oh, I so wish I could remember it… But while I can’t, help me. Help me to remember you,’ I said and gulped. He became so close to me while I was in hospital that I had no doubts I once loved him. And I wished to fall in love with him once again.
My finger was still on his lips and I caressed them. I looked at his lips and placed my other hand on his chest. I could feel his heart beating crazily fast.
‘Do you love me?’ I asked all of a sudden. He nodded slowly, but he was a little bit sad. I felt that I could do everything to make him happy again.
My hand on his chest moved up and found his neck. I gasped and looked into his eyes again. Everything lasted few minutes, maybe even few seconds, but for me it was such a magical time, such slow magical time…
‘Kiss me, Mikel,’ I whispered and leaned forward. He moaned as if my words hurt him and touched my lips.
