Part Nine

I woke up. I had been slumbering for 7 hours. It was now 10 o’clock. I couldn’t forget what had happened even in the distant land of nod. I didn’t really know what to do next. I couldn’t go back to sleep, every cell in my body was awake and didn’t need sleep.
So I just sat there. On my bed. Replaying the day.
There was a knocked at the door. A familiar knock. I had heard it before.
“Come in.” I said.
It was Mikel
“Oh, its you.”
“Yes its me.”
“What do you want?”
“May I sit down?” he asked.
“sure.” He sat on the bed, and didn’t make a sound. So light.
“I’ve come to apologise. I shouldn’t have encouraged her. I know now I was wrong.” He said as he looked straight into my eyes. They were sincere, but sort of emotionless.
“Damn right you were.” I was still angry with him. He hadn’t hinted at all about all the signals I was giving him.
“And I also want to apologise for ruining your Christmas.”
“Ok, well I guess I except that apology” I said “I guess I’m sorry that your trip was wasted.”
“Oh, believe me it wasn’t wasted at all!” he said
“oh really, and how does that work?”
“It doesn’t matter.” He shrugged
“No really, do share.”
“Well, before I came here I was in my own little world, I didn’t really are about anyone else’s feelings or how my words can hurt people. Ive seen what destruction some of my actions can cause. Gracias.”
“Why are you thanking me?”
“Because it’s all thanks to you.”
“Right, ok.”
“And I am really sorry to leave.”
“I thought that would be the best part?”
“No way. When I leave I will be leaving behind part of my heart.”
“What the hell?”
“I just cant help it.” He said. “I got stuck by cupids arrow.”
“Cupids arrow? Where did you get that? The cheesy lines factory?”
“No.”
“Right.”
“Do you want to know the truth?”
“Hell yes.”
“Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin…”
