Part 14 - the last but one

After we had finished our moment of passion, the other three joined us for drinks.
“Mikel, we have some bery bad news.” said Ony.
“Yeah, we didn’t want to have to tell you, tonight of all nights.” Javi said as he patted Mikel on the back.
“It doesn’t matter, tell me, we can handle it.” He said as he held my hand on top of the table.
“We have to take you back.” Said Basty
“WHAT?”
“Its not that big of a surprise, you knew you would have to go eventually.” Said Ony
“I know, but we though I had at least a day.” Mikel said.
“Its ok babe. You have to go. You have your career and adoring fans to think of.” I said
“No, its not ok, I don’t want to leave.”
“I know, but you will have plenty of opportunities to come over here, and I will have a few to go over to Spain.”
“Who are we kidding? We have lives and commitments.” He said.
“Im sorry, you guys make such a beautiful couple.” Javi said.
“Mikel, we told to have you back at 3 o’clock and it’s already 2. We have to leave soon.” Ony said.
“Ok, fine.” He said. “I want you to have this.”
He gave me a watch, his watch.
“Everytime you look at this watch, I want you to think of the good bits of the time we spent together.” Mikel said.
“I will. I also promise I will wait for you.” I said.
“No I don’t, I want you to live your life, I have no idea when we will be able to see each other again.” He said.
“But…” he cut me off as he put his fingers on my lips.
“But nothing, remember, when the last of the roses dies, our love will die with it. Keep them safe.”
“I will guard them with my life.”
Each of the boys gave me a kiss on the cheek goodbye. Mikel kissed me, the most passionate kiss in the history of kisses.
“I love you.” He said.
“Te queiro, mi amor.” I said in return as I started to cry.
“You are the hardest thing I have ever had to give up.”
“I know, it is the same for me. I mean it. I really do love you. Adios.”
I turned my back as he walked out of the door.

Part 15 - The End


1 year later.

Christmas Eve.

I sat bolt up right in bed. What was that? It was now silent. It wasn’t a second ago. There it was again. What was moving downstairs? Maybe mum, putting out our presents? No it couldn’t be, I can hear her snoring. There it was again. No way could I go back to sleep now. My ears filled with silence. It was broken. Someone was coughing.
I silently slipped out of bed. I tip toed across the landing. Desperate not to be heard. I had to be as quite as a mouse when going down the stairs. I had to tread on specific places or otherwise the stairs would creak. I stopped at the entrance to the living room. There was the coughing again. I could hear the faint sound of someone struggling with something. The bastard was trying to steal our presents!
Hang on. Hasn’t this happened before? I looked at my watch my beloved had given me. It was half eleven. This time 365 days ago, mikel was climbing down my chimney.
I went into the living room, and I nearly died of shock.
It was mikel sat there, on the windowsill. Where he first serenaded me. I sat down next to him and gave him the biggest hug ever! I was crying, tears coming thick and fast. I couldn’t let him see me like this.
“First ill get a tissue.” I went upstairs and came back down with something special.
“you still have it!” he said.
“of course I do, it was very smart of you!”
I was holding a plastic rose. It was identical to the other 11, but of course, would never die.
I kissed him.
“Thankyou for coming back!” I said “but how long is it for?”
“it is for ever.” He said. “Well, as long as you will have me! My days were grey without you, and I never want to leave you again. I’m back for good.”
“I don’t want to leave you either!”
We kissed again.
There was a shooting star. I wished that it would stay like this forever again. Hopefully second time lucky.
